Being a respected scientist and surgeon, Dr. McDonald was often called upon by his colleagues to lend expertise to their textbooks and other monographs. In David C. Sabiston’s classic work, Textbook of Surgery: The Biological Basis of Modern Surgical Practice, Dr. McDonald wrote the chapter entitled “Abdominal Wall, Umbilicus, Peritoneum, Mesenteries, Omentum, and Retroperitoneum.” (See Also)This chapter has appeared in the last seven editions of this textbook, beginning with the 12th edition in 1981 and most recently, the 18th edition published in 2008.
